Esquire was born March 14, 1995 and is a son of Starline Imperial FLE 9X, out of a Delfin granddaughter. He has a birth weight of 103 lbs. and an actual weaning weight of 762 lbs. (adjusted to 205 days to 768 lbs.).

In an effort to raise the awareness of "Braunvieh" and gather valuable performance data on pedigreed animals, a bull test was undertaken at Cattleland Feed Yards, Strathmore, Alberta. As well, a Steer trial was also set up with 49 Braunvieh cross steers.

Cattleland is Alberta's biggest performance testing center with hundreds of bulls of all breeds being fed and tested.

In total, 43 Braunvieh Bulls were tested. The test began Nov. 2, 1995 and ended 145 days later, March 26, 1996. Esquire completed the test weighing 1339 lbs., with the highest gain per day on test of 3.80 lbs. per day (the test average was 3.04 lbs. per day). Keeping in mind we had one of the longest and coldest winters on record this year, we were pleased with this result.

Cattleland also provides a Carcass Evaluation based on ultrasound measurements. Of the 43 bulls evaluated, Esquire's measurements were at the top of all bulls measured. Esquire had the least back fat of 3.1 mm (0.12 in.); he had the largest ribeye measurement of 13.23 sq.in., and his marbling score was the highest at 239 (AAA). The bull with the next biggest ribeye had a ribeye measurement of 12.78 sq.in. (0.45 sq.in. smaller than Esquire's). Esquire had the highest Lean Meat Yield of 63.4%. The ultrasound measurements were made at 11 months of age and if adjusted to the normal 12 months measurement age would be even better.

His next test was semen evaluation which he passed with flying colors. His scrotal circumference was 35 cm.

From the time Esquire was born he has been a very "eye catching" bull. His disposition is terrific.
